Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

spousal support

my estranged husband has filed for spousal support. I haven't seen or talked to him in over a year. I supported us when we were togther & haven't worked since oct. 2006. Going through disability & have no income. Can't get help from legal aid a s thye have advised him before & they said it would be a conflict of interest. What do I do?

Re: spousal support

If you have your evidence pulled together, you should be able to represent yourself. Just be sure to bring to court evidence of your disability, your income or lack of income, and ask the court to require him to pay spousal support to you.

In fact, if you file paperwork in advance asking for support from him, he may decide to contact you about dropping the whole thing.
