Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

spousal support

My husband was married to his ex-wife for 1 year and 6 months. She was awarded spousal support and there is no indication of when it stops. Both of them are employed through the military and I am not quit sure I understand why she is still entitled to spousal support. She is now remarried. How can we go about having the spousal support stopped or can it be stopped?

Re: spousal support

If she has remarried you should be able to go to the court to remove the spousal support.

Re: spousal support

Yes, a motion needs to be filed in the Virginia Circuit Court where your husband's final decree of divorce from his former wife was entered to :

(1). Reopen the divorce case and

(2). Terminate the spousal support(alimony)that was ordered due to the remarriage of the recipient ex-spouse.
