Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
spousal support
He says since he's given me money for the last two years we've been separated he no longer has to give me any support. I say Virginia has spousal support laws and he has to give me money until I remarry or die. Is he right or am I right?

Re: spousal support
Yes, of course, Virginia has laws regarding spousal support or alimony
but there has to first be a court order for such before this variety of support can be enforced.
Re: spousal support
In Virginia there is no absolute right to receive spousal support (unlike child support). However, spousal support may be ordered where it is set out by the parties, or, where various factors weigh on the side of an award. I would advise that you consult an attorney to determine how spousal support may be obtained, though the right to obtain such support may be passed if there is already a final divorce order that fails to award it.
