Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Spousal support

I currently have a spousal/child support order. My last child turned 19 last year but instead of a new order they were taking the full amnt. and refunding me the CS portion. I will be unemployed as of 4/1/09.

Q: Does that order terminate with my job termination?

Q: Do I need to ask for a reduction during my unemployment?

Q: When I get a new job, does the old order resume, do I have to get a new order, or does my ex need to get a new order?

Q: What is the percentage for SS in Roanoke/Lynchburg, VA?

Thanks!

Re: Spousal support

Yes, you need to file a motion with the court to reduce the current order to include only the spousal support(no child support), and any further reduction or suspension of this order which may be appropriate during the period of your unemployment.
