Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Spousal Support

Can my wife receive spousal support, and we have no children of this marriage? And what if so is the required time that we would have to have been married for her to receive anything? And what if she doesn't have a job?

Re: Spousal Support

It's possible, that a court could order spousal support or alimony for your wife, as it used to be called, depending upon the circumstances of your case.

There is no particular length of time for the marriage required in the law for the court to make such an award.

Whether or not your wife has a job(or, as important, the capability of getting one) would be one of the many factors that a court would take into consideration in determining whether she should receive an award of this type of temporary support/maintenance.
