Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Former Spouse Entitled to Military Retirement

Married in 1982, initial divorce paperwork and legal separation filed in 1988, divorced in 1994. No attempt at reconciliation or contact throughout any of those years. Is the length of Marriage 6 years or 14 years? Trying to determine eligibility for a share of Military Pension (no spousal support of any kind awarded in the divorce). Thanks for any advice ....

Re: Former Spouse Entitled to Military Retirement

The marriage would be for six years which would be four short of the 10 necessary for eligibility to share in your former spouse's military pension.
