Getting a status of Widow as a legal immigrant

I am a permanent resident of US. While in the process of bringing him here, he died back hom 8 yrs ago. Next yr I want to get married. It is hard to get the death certificate from home now. How can I get a marriage license? Do I have to let USCIS know about his death?

You will need to provide some sort of proof that your former husband is now no longer among the living in order to obtain a marriage license in the United States.

As affidavit from some official of the town or village or other jurisdiction where your late husband became deceased might possibly adequately substitute for an official death certificate.
