Step Parent Adoption and Child Support

My new spouse would like to adopt my daughter. However, her father is several thousand dollars behind in child support. I know that the adoption would terminate his support obligation but would be still be required to pay the arrearage on the support order?

Yes, the arrearages accumulated prior to the adoption should still be fully enforceable.
