Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My step-daughter was born in Hawaii. Her parents had a custody agreement drawn up in Hawaii due to military status. My husband, according to the agreement, has full custody. The court order from Hawaii was never transfered to Virginia when they moved here 10 yrs ago. Does the court order automatically transfer to Virginia or is it no longer valid? If it needs to be 'transfered' is this something that needs to be done through the VA courts?

The Hawaii court order needs to be what's termed "domesticated", i..e, registered in the appropriate Virginia court either by you or your lawyer so that in effect it becomes as one of the Commonwealth's own (orders).

Nothing whatsoever happens in this regard "automatically".
