Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

temporary order not yet approved

I have received a ''temporary order'' for visitation. I have not approved it as of yet. I am wondering if I do not approve it do I have to take my child, who does not want to go, for his visit with his estranged father. Our court case has been continued until June. Our first visit is supposed to be April 24th. Am I legally bound to this anyway?

Re: temporary order not yet approved

It sounds as though you may be describing what is known as a consent order which is an order embodying the agreement of the parties(usually prepared by counsel) and which is only signed by a judge after it's clear that the parties have mutually agreed to or consented to the terms of the order and now wish it to be presented to a judge for his/her signature.

If the above is what in fact you're referring to,

you are under no obligation to consent to this order nor to the visitation arrangement(s) described therein.
