Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Terminating Parental Rights

Hello,

Can you tell me how to start the process on terminating my rights to a child that I do not know is mine? It is known that the child has three other people who the mother suspects could be the father. I live in NY, she lives in VA. I never seen the child and do not wish to be a part of her now. Please help

Re: Terminating Parental Rights

This must be very difficult for you. The regular procedure is to 'contest paternity' or request a hearing to determine filiality.

The question here is in what court? Either Virginia or NY are candidates, but this is determined by the state in which the mother filed for support. If there is no current order or action, then you may file in either state.

You are welcome to a consultation for no fee at my offices at 42 west 44th street, NY,NY. Please call for an appointment first (646) 591-5786.
