Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

text messages

I understand that text messages can be requested by the court if divorce proceedings are in process, how far back can they request/obtain them?

Re: text messages

The court hearing the divorce matter would not likely be requesting such text messages on its own, but the attorneys representing the parties involved could be making such requests in behalf of their respective clients as part of the pretrial discovery process.

And, the lawyers in seeking to obtain copies of such text messages would probably be able to go as far back as the text messages could be reasonably relevant to the pending divorce proceedings.
