unmarried with child wants to leave state

can I leave the state with my son ?

the birth certificate states my boyfriend as father but there is a chance he is another man's child, we have been living together for 8 months

In the absence of a valid court order indicating otherwise or imposing certain restrictions such as advance notice to the noncustodial parent and court, the answer is, yes, as the natural parent and mother of the child you can take him and go where you wish anytime you please---and without seeking anyone's permission in order to do so.

(That of course, in no way implies that such a precipitous departure on your part with the boy would necessarily be a wise thing for you to do.)
