Vacation to Puerto Rico

I share joint legal custody and I have sole physical custody. My 2 year old child has a US passport. Can I travel to the Bahamas or Puerto Rico without a notarized letter from her father? Or do i have to have this in addition to her passport?

If the passport has already been issued to the child(and the two parent consent law presumably complied with), no notarized letter from the father providing additional consent should be necessary (in my opinion).
