Vehicle ownership

I have a step son who literally hates me, I'm the step dad from hell I guess. He has a truck that he parks at my house, that is registerd in his fathers name. I had to move it the other day to accomadate another vehicle in the driveway. I only move it a few 100 feet or so on my property. Now the boy has stated that he is going to call the local police and have me arrested for moving his vehicle, and as far as I can tell the father is behind him on this. My question is as the land owner what right does that give me by the law on the vehicles parked on my land.

As the owner of the land, it gives you the right to move any such vehicles parked on your property for any reasonable motive that you may have.

I'd say you didn't commit any crime. The car was on your property. You have the right to move items on your land. You were either entrusted to take care of the car in which case you had expressed permission to keep it as you will - or you were like the owner of a parking garage - in which case he also entrusts the care of the property to you. There was no theft or unauthorized use. You only had the civil duty to keep reasonably good care of it. In my opinion you could have had it towed away.
