Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

veil of protection offered by LLC during a pending divorce

My wife and I are separated (not legally, mind you) for nine months. She lives in TX, and I live in VA. I've lived in VA since January 1. I need to be in VA for six months to file for divorce, which I will do promptly when the time comes. Divorce is inevitable, and I would like to buy a house. I do not care to let my wife know that I am buying a house, for fear that she may try to claim it as ''community property''. Can I create an LLC in VA and have it be the owner on the deed to the property? Will her attorney be able to find out about this? I just want to move on with my life without my wife taking undeserved portions of my livelihood.

I would advise against acquiring property prior to divorce even with an LLC. And yes, your wife's attorney would find out about your interests, which you will be required to disclose.
