Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Verbally abusive Relationship

I have a 17 month old daughter with a verbally abusive man. While I was pregnant with her, he hit me a couple of times. He lives in Texas and I live in Virginia. He constantly calls me and calls me names . He doesn't show any respect for me whatsoever. Because of him, I was diagnosed with depression and severe signs of anxiety. I'm now taking medication and go to therapy to treat it. And I blame it all on him. However, he is a good father but I sometimes worry about when it comes time for me to send her with him for visition. Is it posible for me to get sole custody if he is verbally and emotionally abusive towards me? If so, what can I use as evidence?

Re: Verbally abusive Relationship

One thing that you should bear in mind is that even if the court were to award you sole custody of the child, the same court is still almost certain to award the father reasonable visitation with his daughter, an order which you will be legally obligated to comply with.
