Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Virginia Property Settlement Agreement
My spouse and I are not getting a devoice at this time. We have been married 16 years and have had some differences recently and will be seeking marrage counciling in the near future. She has agreed to sign a document that states what my separate assets are that she will not have any claim against. What document would I need to prepare? Could I acquire this document from FindLegalFormscom or elsewhere? Is there an attorney that would assist me online that would be less expensive than a local attorney? She has also agreed to sign a Spousal Support Agreement that would not require me to provide her any spousal support nor her to me. She has a very good job and does not want or need my help. What form do I need for this purpose and where can it be found?

Re: Virginia Property Settlement Agreement
There is only one document needed in Virginia to settle the issues of marital and sole property in a marriage, the waiver of spousal support and any other significant issues arising out of the marriage such as debts and who owes whom what. That document is called a PSA(Property Settlement Agreement) and when proeprly drafted and incorporated into a final decree of divorce, should settle all the important issues in the dissolution of a marriage without involving the court in that decision-making in any significant way.
I doubt that you will find any attorney who would want to assist you online in preparing such a document but you could probably locate one who would be willing to meet with you in his or her office for an an hour or two to point you in the right direction as to how a PSA might be properly drafted to meet the specifics of your particular marital situation.
