Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Visitation and Child Support

My ex husband filed for visitation in 2006. The court date was set for 2007 July, but got postponed since my ex's new wife had pregnancy complications. A few months ago,I asked my lawyer to stop representing me as she was not keeping me informed, and I could never get in touch with her. I now have no lawyer, since I was never informed that I had a court date set for next week. My ex husbands lawyer sent me a notice on Fiday 7/3 to either sign the terms of visitation set by my ex (along with an NOC for no child support) or appear in court next week. I have recieved no notice from court. The reason I did not expect anything was that in April my ex informed me that he would not be visiting this year (He resides in the Middle East and just visited in April) I have no objection to his visiting except that I do not want him to take my son out of Loudoun County when he visits. I also want child support, which he is trying to get out of.

I do not think that my ex will be here for the court date next week, since his lawyer has asked for visitation from August 15 - 30 2008.

What should and can I do at this point. I dont even know the exact court date! Please help.

Re: Visitation and Child Support

You can call the clerk's office to find out the exact date and time of the scheduled hearing.

Then you should go to the hearing and tell the judge(if you have the opportunity) what you want to see happen in terms of the visitation and child support issues in your case.
