Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Visitation of children

I live in Calif. and my 3 children live in Virginia with my ex husband. Due to my mental illness (Bipolar) there have been several restrictions to visit my children. It has been 2 yrs. and I motioned the VA court to change the restricted visitations. It has been over a year since my last hospitalization and I am under a doctor's care and live with my mother who is also my Conservator. I have a court date 8/21/09 which I have to prove my mental stability. If I loose the motion I will have to pay for a theraputic review and have a third party to supervise my visit with the children. I believe I am being totally discriminated due to my Bipolar. I am on SSI and the cost to travel cross country will have a burden on me. I need to know what rights do I have as a mother that has been denied of seeing her children once a year? I have tried to get legal aid in CA but they said they could not handle a court case in another state. I contacted VA legal services and was told I would have to be a resident of VA to qualify. I am left with no legal aid and my mother is trying to help me in every way.

Re: Visitation of children

Without a Virginia attorney representing you at this pending hearing, you will be unlikely to prevail on your motion(in my opinion).
