Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Voluntary Termination of Parental Rights

My ex is wanting to terminate his parental rights to our two kids, and the kids and I are fine with that. We live in VA and I have sole custody. Are we able to do this and what are the steps.

Re: Voluntary Termination of Parental Rights

Termination of parental rights would doubtless involve termination of child support from your ex. Is that what you want to do?

If so, you should consult an attorney who practices in the court where the divorce was granted, unless neither of you still lives in that area;in that case the matter would be addressed in the area in which you and the children live.
