Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I wanted to know what a child's rights are in the situation of parental separation... is the child or teenager's opinion on who they want to live with taken into account? How strong does it hold sway over the decision?

Yes, a judge will normally give some weight to a teen 's preference

on this issue but in determining overall as to what might be in the

best interests of the child, the judge by law must consider numerous other factors and the child's preference will not be dispositive of the matter.
