Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Hello, I just wanted to ask if I will still be required to pay child support if my child reaches the age of 18. My kids live in New York and I live in Virginia. The laws for child support in New York state that they are entitled to receive child support until the age of 21, while the laws in Virginia state it is only required until the age of 18. Does it go by where the father lives or not?
