If my wife and I are separated, can I have a live in girlfriend and file for joint custody of my son

Of course, you could file for such custody, but whether the court would

grant it is another matter entirely, and how the judge might view the

live in girlfriend in deciding your fitness for joint custody would likely

be difficult to predict. (There could be a sizeable difference, for example, in the way this factor might be treated in say, Grundy versus Fairfax.)
