Witness subpoena in civil case

Is a subpoena for witness in a civil case enforceable if not served directly to the individual ? In this case it was left at the work place for the person who was being served.

Re: Witness subpoena in civil case

No, such service of process, left with a witness' employer or representative and not seved directly upon the witness himself is prima facially invalid service and therefore is necessarily unenforceable.
