Legal Question in Medical Leave in Virginia

Leave of absence due to adopting

My employer reduced my hours when I came back to work and gave the hours to the new employee that worked for me while I was gone. Is this legally allowed under the FMLA? I did sign a leave of absence that stated that this may happen, which apparenly she planned on giving my hours to the new employee.
