Legal Question in Medical Leave in Virginia

My rights to privacy with medical records disclosure

I have been under medical care for the last year and was advised by my physician to only work part time. My employer has asked me to provide a document filled out by my phyisician specigying the details of my condition. Do they have the right to ask such information and could I be fired if I don't provide it?

Thank you

Act provide medical certification by a qualified heath care provider of the employee's "serious health condition that makes the employee unable to perform the functions of the position of such employee."
