Legal Question in Medical Leave in Virginia
sick leave not paid
I was out with surgery for 3 weeks,I took 40 hrs vacation and 40 hrs sick leave.I was paid for vacation but still have not recived a check for sick leave.This was two pay periods ago.I have spoke to my boss,payroll dept,and all I get is transferred.What are my choices?

Who would know (your choices)under these facts? Unless part of a contract for employment or collective bargaining type of agreement, Virginia employers are under no obligation to pay or compensate employees for sick leave (accumulated or otherwise).
So, assuming no contract, and that you continue to get the runaround on the sick leave pay, what are you going to do, quit? Your choice, quite obviously.
