Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

need advice

I was called into a meeting today with my employer and told someone(who also works in the same building) called her and said I had been talking openly to other employees about issues pertaining to another employee. I was basically told I was saying these things and not asked if I had done it. I was told I am unprofessional and they need to look out for this other person's reputation. When I finally explained that other people know A LOT of information other than myself and I did not appreciate someone saying I have done those things I was told there could not be any other way the info. got out. I disagreed and gave the names of other people who were standing around when the incident supposedly happened. What do I need to do from here? I have been in this job for 11 years and do not appreciate someone saying things that are not true. Help!?! I have been told after they gather information we will meet again. I do not feel comfortable after the way things went today to be back in that office again by myself. thanks for the help:)

Re: need advice

If you're working under a union contract, see your shop steward. If not, unfortunately, you're pretty much on your own.
