Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

agressive dog

we have been walking in our neighborhood for over twenty years, a neighbor's jack russel t errier is small but very agressive. comes into the public street, has biten my husband twice, chased me to my yard, and biten our dog who is a lab scared of small dogs and too petrified to defend himself. The neighbor has turned this around on us, told other neighbors it is our fault, forced us to give up our dog, and to walk a different way we were trying to get along and not call animal control but now we're concerned that if we did or do they would retaliate even worse what can we do ?

Re: agressive dog

The timid in this life who fear for what others may do to them (or to their dogs), despite their rights being trampled upon and who are consequently mired in fearful and whimpering inaction, usually get what you've apparently gotten so far from this most unneighborly situation, i.e., more grief, deprivation, and trampling of rights---rather than an improved relationship with this unruly and abusive neighbor.

And, until you decide to stand up for yourselves (and for your dog) and challenge this continuing abuse, and vindicate your rights, you'll likely continue to receive more of the same from which this neighbor now likely derives a fair amount of enjoyment in dishing into your befuddled faces.(If you still don't quite get it, animal control should've been contacted with your complaint years ago immediately after the first biting incident, and this neighbor sued for damages and haled into court to account for this outrageous and most uncivil conduct.)
