Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Automobile Repair/Lemon

I purchased a vehicle from a dealer first with no current inspection sticker on ituntil 1 month later. Purchased insurance and within 1 month the vehcile broke down and I was told to take to Jeep dealer, they informed me that this vehicke should have never been sold as it was and that nothing was covered under the insurance. The dealer asked me to return the car for repair from them and they then charged me $945 for the repair and I had to cancel my insurance to pay for it. Then within 2 more months had to have major transmission repair done in the amount of $1200. I would like to know if I may have a case against this dealer and be able to get my money back. They also lie dto me when I asked them about a exhaust leak and was told it was fine after they checked it out and the jeep dealer told me it has a crack in the engine manifold. It is a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Thanks for any help.

Re: Automobile Repair/Lemon

If you bought this used vehicle with the "As Is" disclaimer of warranty and no other warranty protections, it would appear that you're out of luck, as the time-honored saying goes.

You might try to lodge a complaint with the local consumer affairs agency and see whether they can be of any help, but I would rather doubt it.
