Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Bait and Switch?

I want to know if there is such a protection to a tenant when in addition to the lease I signed, she promised that she would let me go in the event that I didn't like it there...(hair salon) residential lease I signed..No verbage mentioned either in this lease about being final word between the two...fraudulent bait and switch tactic?...Fraud in the inducement? NO integration clause or anything like it stated.

READ THIS FIRST: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop reading right now.

RESPONSE: It depends on what the lease says. If you signed a lease that obligates you to stay for a particular length of time, then you'll likely need to honor that obligation even if you were told verbally, prior to your signing the lease, that you could leave at any time. If, on the other hand, the landlord misrepresented material facts in order to induce you to enter into the lease, you may have grounds for rescinding the lease.
