Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

I bought a car from a guy as is, although he verbally started the car was in good condition and nothing was wrong with it. Unbeknowing to me the "check engine" light was on when i purchased the car. The car had and auto start on it so i didnt notice when i looked at the car that the light was not even hooked up, normally the check engine light flashes and disappears when the car is started, but when i took the car to the nissan dealership only a month after purchacing it i was notified that the light was disconnected and the engine needed to be replace. My question is, is there anything legally i can do .

If the car purchase was a private sale, then it was sold

"AS IS", i.e., without warranty of any kind, and you are therefore likely without a remedy (in my opinion).
