Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Ex boyfriend left my home Sept 2013 & left behind large tool chest. He was told to take it with him but he said he needed help. He made arrangements with me on 4 occasions that month to come back for it and he never showed up. What are my rights on keeping abandoned property? Jan 15, 2014 he texts saying he wants it back.

So, give him written notice as to a date certain by which this personal property

of your former boyfriend must be picked up or you will dispose of it as you see fit. (May 1, 2014 would seem more than adequate based on these facts.)

Then carefully keep a copy of this written notice for your records in case

he later decides to sue you in general district court.
