She broke the engagement

I live in Virginia. She lives in California. We were engaged in VA and planned on moving her and the two youngest children to live in VA. Planed to marry in VA. She called it off after 39 days. How can I get the ring back? Am I entitled? Do I need a lawyer in VA or in Cali?

California, but if the ring in effect was a gift, you're not likely to get it back no matter where you file your claim.
