Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

name change in VA

I want to change my first name in the state of VA. I downloaded the forms from the Fredericksburg Circuit Court website and have filled them out and know that they need to be notarized. I also need a typewritten order in legal form to accompany this. I was wondering what this is? Is that something different?

Re: name change in VA

An order for the judge to sign to order the name change, maybe? Clerk, judge, or local attorney will have a form to follow.

Yes, it's a proposed order for the judge to sign to legally effect the name change.(Merely filling out and submitting the forms without the proposed order would get you nowhere

with respect to the name change.)
