Civil law Suit

I filed in small claims court a warrant in debt . The defendant hired an attorney who requested the case be moved to General District Court. Why?

Small claims court is a special court where there are no attorneys allowed, only the parties themselves. Therefore, the attorney cannot participate in the case unless it is moved from small claims court to General District Court. He has no choice but to move the case to GDC, so that he can participate. General District Court is very similar to small claims court in procedure, informality, and operation. Note that if you used a corporation or partnership, they CANNOT come into court without being represented by an attorney. So they have no choice if it is a corporation or business partnership.
