Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Condo Assocation fines

My condo assocation is fining me $600.00 to paint a common area of the cond.Someone said that they say my teenager put a cigarette out in the common area. My teenager did put a cigarette out on a window sill in my unit, but I have already painted the window frame. My teenager is not the only person in the condo that smokes and they are unable to tell me what day this happened. I want to know if I need to pay this fine, because they do not have any real physical evedince that it was my child that did this to the common area.

Re: Condo Assocation fines

Yes, you will either need to pay the fine or settle the matter in court, where you will likely lose and end up paying not only the fine but other costs as well. (You might want to review your association's by-laws to see whether you may have some other recourse under the laws of the condo association, but it's doubtful.)
