hi
one day at work an assistant manager was throwing out some broken equipment. and now the owner is charging me with theft. ive tried to return the items, but they have refused them. can they charge me when i as told i could take the items and id gladly return them in the same condition?

No, "they" cannot charge you with the crime of theft, but the local prosecutor's office can if it believes their version of what allegedly happened with respect to this allegedly broken and discarded
equipment.
