Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Deadlines of filing a personal injury case

I was served with a Civil Summ. regarding a matter that happend in 1992. This matter was already settled, and they have filed it again. Is this possible?

If not what action can be taken by me to stop this from happening again?

Re: Deadlines of filing a personal injury case

You need to see a lawyer immediately. If this is an insured matter, turn it over to your insurance co. If it can be dismissed for statute of limitations grounds, or because it was already resolved, the lawyer will be able to do that pretty quickly. If not, you will need to be defended (and there are plenty of ways a case can be terminated without it being resolved, and keeping the statute of limitations from running).
