Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Earlier Post Titled Slander? Libel? Something?

I have a further question regarding my earlier post. I was advised by the College Police Detective at my urging that they were looking into charging the person with filing a false police report. I strongly believe that if they had charged her, that would have solved all of the problems that I currently have. I believe they didn't care to pursue the matter because of her Mother's influence and because she is a student at a college I have no connection with. Are they libel in any way for not charging her?

No, a police agency would not incur civil liability for exercising their discretion in whether to charge a particular individual with a crime(filing false police report in this case).
