The fire department broke down my friends door because his neighbor had a carbon monoxide leak. He was not home when this occurred. Will he be responsible for the damages or can he be compensated for the broken door?

Your friend should call up the fire department to find out to which city or county agency he should send the bill for the cost of repairing these damages. Then he should get two estimates for the cost of this repair and forward them to this agency.
