Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Gift

I am involved in a BDSM relationship, where the submissive male has contacted me and asked me to control his finances. He gave me a gift of 3500.00 in cash, now has reconsidered and wants the money back. Do I have to give back the money? We had talked about him borrowing several thousand dollars and investing part in a cd, however this money he stated is mine and I can do whatever I want with it. He is a police officer, and is in my opinion trying to initimidate me. I offered to repay his tax debt in monthly payments for part of the money, but he is refusing. What do I have to do by law?

Re: Gift

As a matter of law, gifts that are truly that become the property of the giftee once given and need not be returned. However, that in no way suggests that there are not situations where the gift would be best returned to the giver, and I would further suggest that the situation which you've described may well be one of those.
