Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Just got this letter, what should I do?

Afraid I will be hit with a big bill if I do nothing.

It is your responsibility to remove all tree growth that is currently over your property line so that it does not transgress onto my property. Please attend to this. Remove the tree lib that is touching my roof as soon as possible. You will be held responsible for any damage caused to my property by branches from your trees. If you do not attend to the tree growth by December 11, 2010, I will exercise my right to self-help and have the overgrowth trimmed. As previously stated verbally, you are not permitted on my property without a personal invitation. If necessary, I will prominently post "No Trespassing" signs.

You might want to let this adjacent property owner know that he will be

legally responsible for any damage that occurs to your trees

as a result of his application of "self-help" in trimming them.
