Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Can anything be done to someone who was living in the same apartment but was not on thre lease. Can he be sued for any of the rent money if he was receiving mail at that address. He is also telling lies that the leasee trashed the apartment and he was the one that was still there. If he was not on the lease do he have any rights to any of the furniture or can I sue him for stealing the furniture if he say that he was not on the lease. Also if he is telling lies on the leasee can he be sued for slander?

1. Sued for the right of receiving mail at your address as part of his informal rent obligation ? No, I don't think so.

2. Yes, you could sue him for the fair market value of this furniture

if you owned it and he stole it from you.

3. Telling lies about you, the leasee? Sure, you could sue for

defamation but probably would not win.
