Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

A mobile home belonging to my daughter is on my father's land. He says we cannot move the home until "X" amount is paid. There are NO written or verbal agreements between the two parties. He has blocked access to the hitch with a log truck. He turned the water off so we are unable to live there and have been forced to rent a location. What do I need to do to move the home?

The mobile hone is personal property which your father would have no

right to prevent your daughter from moving unless he's also a co-owner

of it.

Your daughter may wish to consider filing what's called a warrant in detinue

in the local general district court where the mobile home is located for the return of her personal property which apparently is now being wrongfully withheld from her possession by your father.
