How do I prepare a motion to release my bond in the state of virginia? Is there a format I need to use ? I had to put up some money to get my car back. The case was dropped and I need to prepare a motion for the state to release my money.

Who claims you need to file a formal motion? A telephone request should work but if that's not sufficient, then a simple written request directed to the clerk's office of the court which required you to post the bond should be enough with a copy sent to the local prosecutor's office.

Make sure that you include the case# on all correspondence.
