Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Public Humiliation

I was in a chain grocery store to p/u a prescription. Insurance denied the claim. I had a civil discussion with the pharm. tech and left somewhat aggrivated. In the meantime, my fiance call back and got rude with the pharmacy staff.(which i was unaware of.) The tech left the pharmacy came to me in a check out line and began shouting at me and stating that she was not my servant and repeating a vulgar word. Do i have any legal recourse? The store offered me a gift card, but I feel it was completely unacceptable!

Re: Public Humiliation

Yes. You could file suit against the clerk for violation of the statute of insulting words; you could also file a criminal complaint for "curse and abuse" and for "disorderly conduct".

Is it worth it? It'll cost you about $8,000 in attorney's fees and take a year of your peace of mind.
