Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

My sons grandfather said that if i changed my sons last name to his dads last name he would open a cd account in my sons name and put $200.per month in the account until my son turned 18. That was over 14 years ago. Well the money was to be use for college at 18 or if he didnt go to college he would get it at 25. My son spent a lot of time in juvie as a teen but has since got himself together ,he is 18 and going to university. I went to his grandfather for the money and was informed that they had spent all of it because they didnt think he would go to college. That was HIS money no matter what. Can I sue his grandfather for breech of a verbal contract? What arw my options to rwcover what they stole from him?

No, you cannot sue the old man (at least successfully) on these

facts since your window of opportunity for such an action would seem to have closed some 11 tears ago after the three year limitation

on the enforcement of verbal contracts in the Commonwealth

would've expired in the situation described.
