Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Is there a statute of limitations to pursue legal action against someone who forged my signature, without my knowledge or consent, on a document to grant himself power of attorney for me? The forgery occurred 12 years ago in Richmond, Virginia. The forger was/is an attorney (currently with the DA office) and used a secretary in the large law firm where he worked at the time to provide the witness signature. I have tried to put these very stressful and traumatizing events behind me, but I am still trying to clear loans that he opened (although closed now) without my knoweldege or consent using this forged document from my credit reports. What are my legal options at this point?

Probably, now too late for formal legal action(s) against this alleged miscreant,

but you could still very likely file a complaint against him with the Virginia State Bar. (See www.vsb.org.)
